Historical Timeline
Year - 1922 (Foundation and Origins of Colores): Formally founded on 6 May 1922 in York, North Yorkshire, the club was incorporated as a limited company following a meeting held in the premises of the York Medical Society on Stonegate, preceded by a gathering of 400 supporters at the Guildhall. The initiative, led by a committee of 20 local traders and enthusiasts, aimed to restore professional football to the cathedral city following the dissolution of the original 1908 club during the First World War. The club adopted the name York City F.C. and chose red as the main colour for its shirt.

Year - 1929 (Admission to the Football League and Bootham Crescent): After seven seasons in the Midland League, the club was selected in 1929 to join the Football League in the Third Division North. In 1932, after playing at Fulfordgate, they moved to their traditional ground, Bootham Crescent, which served as the club’s home for 88 years.

Year - 1955 (‘Happy Chaddies’ FA Cup campaign): During the 1954–55 season, the team produced one of the most legendary campaigns in the history of the FA Cup for a third-tier club. Led by Arthur Bottom, they knocked out Tottenham Hotspur (3–1) and Blackpool at Bootham Crescent, reaching the semi-finals where they forced a play-off against Newcastle United, eventually losing at Hillsborough.

Year - 2012 (The Double at Wembley and the Move): In May 2012, under manager Gary Mills, the team enjoyed a historic month at Wembley Stadium, winning the FA Trophy final against Newport County and, just eight days later, beating Luton Town 2–1 in the Conference National play-off final, securing promotion back to the Football League (EFL League Two) and laying the foundations for their move in 2021 to the York Community Stadium (LNER Community Stadium).
