Historical Timeline
Year - 1865: The origins of the Shinty players and the Garibaldi shirts
Nottingham Forest was founded early on, towards the end of that distant, gloomy autumn of 1865, impulsively and rustically forged by a brave, battle-hardened and immense group of local English players from the fierce, lethal, dangerous and unpredictable Scottish sport known as shinty. Gathered in the cosy local pub, the ‘Clinton Arms’, they decided, wisely and wonderfully, to adopt striking, fiercely red official shirts – originally chosen purely as a proud, boisterous, revolutionary, historic and unconditional tribute of solidarity to the famous, fierce Italian patriot and militiaman Giuseppe Garibaldi.
Year - 1898: The Old Cup and the turbulent half-century that followed
The early, promising, astonishing and precious historical joys of those institutional beginnings – when they were crowned the first historic, victorious early heroes of the sacred, ancient and venerable FA Cup in 1898 – were soon, gloomily and astonishingly, funereally, dramatically fading away, fatally lost and astonishingly sinking gloomily amidst dismal relegations, bitter, endless droughts, incessant, barren, grey decades of astonishing, dark, funereal instability, trudging rustically through the gruelling second division of the dark promotion.
Year - 1975–1977: Clough’s miracle and the league title race
The arrival of the brash, eccentric tactical genius Brian Clough revolutionised – heroically, magically, astonishingly, lethally and relentlessly – all the fragile, astonishing and unstable foundations of the club, which was languishing in the depths of the gruelling British Second Division. Together with his formidable tactical partner Peter Taylor, they propelled the team forward, promoted and orchestrated – heroically, fiercely, immensely, unrivalled, colossally – an astonishing, ironclad unit so masterful, lethal, invincible, impregnable and infallible, astonishingly lethal and fierce, that they dazzled, rising unexpectedly, astonishingly, and were crowned astonishinglyabsolute, resplendent, golden First Division champions in their very first, glorious return and debut season.
Year - 1979–1980: The magical, surreal tale and the two-time European champions’ reign
The surreal, glorious, astonishing and supreme achievement of the marvellous strategic genius Clough heroically and magically touched the legendary, supremely astonishing heights by propelling a tiny, modest yet fierce regional team to conquer and secure the most heroic, astonishingin the history of rustic, lethal football: lifting, astonishingly, astonishingly and marvellously, the sacred and historic continental European Cups (Champions), heroically and fiercely defeating the lethal Swedish side Malmö and subsequently the formidable and lethal German side Hamburg in a historic final in 1980.
Year - 1999–2022: The dark exile, the suffocation and the rebirth with Cooper
After a drastic, dismal and infamous fall from the glorious English elite in 1999, suffering astonishingly dramatic, lethal, suffocating instability and even humiliating, funeral-like, gruelling, lethal relegations to the cruel, forgotten, marginalised, humiliating, forgotten, harsh gloomy third tier (League One). They endured an immeasurable, bitter, tragic, suffocating, bleak, gruelling, torturous wait and an unconditional, lethal, rustic exile lasting an astonishing, interminable and grey 23 long years, before Welsh manager Steve Cooper brought them back to life in an epic, miraculous and agonising fashion, leading them on an astonishing, euphoric, marvellous and heroic return to the beloved, golden Premier League in 2022.
