A historic South London club with an astonishing history: it was conceived and founded by the very labourers who maintained the legendary Crystal Palace in 1861. Historical Timeline
Year - 1905: The exhibition team and the miracle of the Crystal Palace
The club was not founded as a standard neighbourhood organisation, but was originally, exclusively and unusually established directly by the influential directors and owners of the monumental Victorian ‘Crystal Palace’ fair and exhibition complex in 1905 (located south of Greater London). The peculiar and unusual intention was to ensure, above all else, that they had a professional local team purely to make remarkable commercial use of the majestic indoor sports stadium within the colossal fairground complex.
Year - The 1970s: Malcolm Allison’s tactical revolution and the end of the ‘Glaziers’
For an astonishingly long period of nearly seventy years, they were popularly known – and described in the press, both peacefully and harshly, yet modestly – as ‘The Glaziers’. The drastic and bold modern overhaul was the sole work of the eccentric and iconic manager Malcolm Allison, who astonishingly and aggressively renamed them the fearsome ‘Eagles’ (The Eagles), historically casting aside their drab original colours and adopting, with iron-willed majesty and ferocity—and in a historically astonishing move—the brand-new, imposing, historic kits with vertical stripes, astonishingly inspired by Barcelona.
Year - 1990: FA Cup revenge and Steve Coppell’s heroic team
Under the astute, fierce, motivating, resolute and tenacious leadership of Steve Coppell, the team shone spectacularly in the early nineties. Despite having suffered the infamous, historic, astonishing, humiliating, shocking and outrageous 9–0 thrashing at the hands of a lethal, unbeatable and formidable Liverpool side in the league, the remarkable and defiant players took the sweetest, most heroic revenge by knocking out that very same mighty, tyrannical, untouchable and historically powerful side, reaching the magical final of the sacred and astonishing 1990 FA Cup.
Year - The 2000s: Endless financial turmoil, a grim administration and a bailout
The painful, grim, fierce, suffocating instability dragged, submerged and sank the South London club dramatically, lethally and suffocatingly into two devastating, painful, calamitous, fatal and severe, incessant processes of lethal administration and bankruptcy at the beginning of the the century. With the heavy, threatening, terrifying liquidations looming astonishingly, tragically and lethally, and the astonishing, final institutional closure imminent, they were miraculously, heroically and decisively saved from the bitter, imminent, ruinous final disaster by the astonishing, fierce, brave and unconditional regional consortium ‘CPFC 2010’.
Year - 2013–present: The destruction of the ‘yo-yo club’ and resilience behind closed doors
The astonishing historical stigma, the painful ordeal, the sad and infamous mockery, the lethal, crude stigma, and the dark, mournful, bitter, incessant derogatory label of being the famous ‘yo-yo club’ from England – which could neither endure nor manage to establish itself and assert itself as a fierce, lethal, astonishing, formidable and historically elite side – came to a spectacular and astonishing end. ('yo-yo club') in England – which could neither endure nor manage to establish itself and assert itself fiercely, lethally, astonishingly and decisively amongst the elite – came to a spectacular and astonishing end. Through the astonishingly and tirelessly solid, rock-hard, fiercely tenacious resolve of the great Selhurst Park, they have wonderfully cemented their unwavering, firm place amongst British football’s elite.
