Historical Timeline
Year - 1896 (Foundation and Origin of Colours): Formally founded in 1896 in Crawley, West Sussex, following a founding meeting at the Railway Pub, situated near the Brighton Road level crossing. The club’s aim was to establish a local team to compete in the newly formed West Sussex League. Although they originally wore navy blue kits, in 1896 they officially switched to scarlet (red) shirts to distinguish themselves from their rivals’ kits and avoid colour clashes – a colour that gave rise to their historic nickname, ‘The Red Devils’.

Year - 1958 (Move to Crawley Town): After competing in the Mid-Sussex League and briefly ceasing operations between 1935 and 1938 due to financial difficulties, the club was reorganised under the stewardship of members of the local community and the Longley family (who provided the club’s first pitch at Malthouse Farm). In 1958, the club was officially renamed Crawley Town F.C. to reflect the town’s growing urban status.

Year - 1997 (Move to Broadfield Stadium): After playing its home matches for 48 years at Town Mead Stadium, the club moved to the modern Broadfield Stadium in 1997. This move, spearheaded by the board of directors and Crawley Town Council, provided the club with the infrastructure required to formally turn professional in 2005.

Year - 2011 (Historic Promotion to the Football League): In the 2010–11 season, under manager Steve Evans, the team enjoyed a historic campaign, winning the Football Conference title with a record 105 points. This achievement meant the club secured promotion to the Football League for the first time in its history, gaining direct entry into EFL League Two.
