Historical Timeline
Year - 1934 (Foundation and Origin of Colours): Formally founded on 17 May 1934 at the Angel Hotel in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, on the initiative of councillor Jack Swain and a committee of supporters to restore professional football to the town following the collapse of the former Peterborough & Fletton United in 1932. They initially wore green with a white ‘V’, adopting their definitive kit of royal blue shirts and white shorts in the 1937–38 season. They inherited the nickname ‘The Posh’, coined in 1921 by Pat Tirrell, manager of their predecessor club, who publicly stated that he was seeking to assemble a squad of distinguished (‘posh’) players.
