Historical Timeline
Year - 1908 (Foundation and Origin of Colours): Officially founded as a limited company on 15 August 1908 following meetings at the Albert Pub in the city, led by businessman John Hilton Crowther and local officials with the aim of establishing a football association club in an area heavily dominated by rugby league. They leased the grounds on Leeds Road and, although they wore ‘salmon pink’ shirts for their debut match in September 1908, they soon adopted their traditional blue and white vertical stripes, which gave rise to their traditional nickname ‘The Terriers’ due to their tenacity.

Year - 1920–1922 (The Community Rescue and the FA Cup): In 1919, Chairman Crowther planned to merge the club with Leeds United. In response, the Huddersfield community raised 25,000 pounds through a public fundraising campaign in 1920 to buy the club’s shares and save it from closure. This community-led revival led to the club’s first major sporting success on 29 April 1922, when they won the FA Cup by beating Preston North End 1–0 at Stamford Bridge, thanks to a penalty taken by Billy Smith under the guidance of the legendary Herbert Chapman.

Year - 1924–1926 (The Historic Three Consecutive League Titles): The club became the first in English football to win three First Division league titles in a row (1923–24, 1924–25 and 1925–26). Chapman led the team to the first two titles before moving to Arsenal, and Cecil Potter completed the feat in 1926, introducing a revolutionary system based on counter-attacking and defensive solidity.

Year - 2017 (Return to the Premier League after 45 Years): Under manager David Wagner, the club secured its return to the top flight of English football on 29 May 2017. In the play-off final at Wembley against Reading FC, after the match ended 0–0 after 120 minutes of normal time, goalkeeper Danny Ward and Christopher Schindler’s decisive penalty in the shoot-out (4–3) saw the ‘Terriers’ return to the Premier League.
